Privacy Policy

The short version

  • We keep what you send so you can come back to it: your checks are private to you unless you share one.
  • The audio from a video is deleted as soon as it has been transcribed.
  • No ads, no trackers, no selling or renting your information, ever.
  • You can delete any check, or your whole account and everything in it, from inside the app.

Who is responsible for your data

Both Sides is run by BothSidez, LLC (“we”, “us”), a Texas limited liability company being formed. We decide how your information is used and are responsible for it. You can reach us through the help form at bothsidez.ai/#help; a real person reads every message.

What we hold

WhatWhy
Your email address, and the name you give usTo sign you in with a one-time code, and to greet you.
What you send: links, pasted text, and questionsTo make the check you asked for, and to keep it in your history.
Transcripts we make from a video's audioThe check is built from them; you can read the transcript with your check.
The checks themselves and your follow-up questions and answersSo you can read, share, and come back to them.
How many checks you make, and how much AI processing each usedTo apply daily limits and understand what Both Sides costs to run.
Messages you send us (questions, suggestions, problems, invite requests)To answer you and improve Both Sides.
Basic technical logs kept by our hosting providers, including IP addressesTo keep the service running and secure.

We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, or browsing history, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Videos and audio

When you send a video link, we download only the audio to a computer we operate, transcribe it there, and delete the audio as soon as the transcript is made. We fetch only posts that are publicly available; we never sign in to a social network on your behalf.

Links someone has already checked

Checking a link costs real money, and popular clips get sent by many people. So when you send a public link that was checked the same way in the last 14 days, you get that finished check instantly instead of a new one — and a check you make of a public link may be given to others who send the same link. Only the check of the public post is reused: never who sent it, never your follow-up questions, and never text you pasted or questions you typed. You can always ask for a fresh check instead.

Shared links

If you share a check, anyone with the link can read the analysis. A shared page never shows the transcript or text you pasted, and it is marked so search engines don't list it. You can turn a link off at any time, and it stops working immediately.

Who else processes it

We use a small number of service providers to run Both Sides. They process information only to provide their service to us:

To check claims, the AI searches the web; those searches are about the subject you sent, not about you.

Why we are allowed to hold it

We use your information to provide the service you asked for, to keep it secure and running, and to answer you when you write to us. Where the law requires a legal basis (for example in the UK or EU), these are performing our agreement with you and our legitimate interest in running a safe, working service.

How long we keep it

Your checks and follow-ups are kept until you delete them or your account. Deleting your account removes your account, checks, transcripts and follow-ups from our live systems right away; copies in our providers' routine backups expire within a short period after that. Messages you send us are kept as long as we need them to answer and follow up, and we will delete them on request.

Your rights

You can see, correct, download, or delete your information. Most of this you can do in the app (Profile → Delete my account removes everything). For anything else, write to us through the help form and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live — including California and other U.S. states, the UK and the EU — you may have further rights, such as to object to certain processing or to complain to a data protection authority. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are used in California law.

Children

Both Sides is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.

How it is kept safe

Connections are encrypted. Each person's checks are separated in the database so one account cannot read another's. Keys to our systems stay on our servers and never in the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care and will tell you if something goes wrong that affects you.

Where your data goes

Both Sides is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed there.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who processes it, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
